The MAT+SAR K9 team is a unit of MAT+SAR Search & Rescue, a 501 C3 Non-Profit organization based in the Matanuska Susitna Valley of Alaska.  Teams are trained in airscent, trailing, land and water cadaver, avalanche and evidence search.  K9 Teams train every weekend and provide demonstrations to the public throughout the year.  Our teams work closely with local Emergency Medical Service groups across Alaska, so joint trainings are often conducted.  MAT+SAR K9 is deployed to searches all over the state. They can be deployed via Helicopter, Boat, ATV, Snow Machine and Airplane.  They are dispatched by the Alaska State Troopers and other local law enforcement agencies and are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Fun Fact:  The MAT+SAR K9 Service area of the Matanuska Susitna Borough has a total area of 25,258 square miles, of which 24,608 square miles is land and 650 square miles is water.  That’s bigger than the state of West Virginia!!
